HUMA 213 - Logic

Introduces the student to logic as a field of philosophy by examining the structure of argument and applying critical thinking skills.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Understand what is logic and propositional knowledge.
  2. Identify different kinds of definitions and their implications.
  3. Understand the nature of argument.
  4. Explore inductive and deductive reasoning.
  5. Examine the status of truth in an argument.
  6. Identify fallacious reasoning.
  7. Apply logic to and compose valid arguments.
  8. Understand fallacy and a truth test.
  9. Understand the relationship between language and logic.
