IVYC 113 - K-12 Virtual Work-Based Learning Faculty Certification PROGRAM: Office of Education Technology CREDIT HOURS MIN: 0 TOTAL CONTACT HOURS MIN: 3 DATE OF LAST REVISION: 2/19/21
This is a professional development course to enhance the virtual teaching and instructional skills related to the implementation of work-based learning content for K-12 teaching faculty. Course completion results in the issuance of a Career Development Certificate (CDC). Considerations will be made for educators in grades 8-12.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Develop an online course for implementing work-based learning content into instruction and work-based learning instruction best practices.
- Use virtual instruction best practices to structure an online, hybrid, or in-person work-based learning course.
- Design and implement strategies to promote college and career readiness related to work-based learning, and workforce ethics.
- Compare and interpret styles of embedding work-based learning content into an instructional course.
- Evaluate the methodologies of implementing and measuring online learning and student success measures related to:
- guest speaking
- industry touring
- project-based learning
- mentorships
- career fairs
- job shadowing
- internships
- apprenticeships
- Identify best practices related to student engagement and interactive learning related to work-based learning content in an online, hybrid, or in-person learning environment.
- Create resources for students and parents related to work-based learning
- Identify student success measures in an online, hybrid, or in-person learning environment related to work-based learning.
