A review course in preparation for the National Registry Examination and will include current testing procedures, disease conditions, diagnosis, etiologies, clinical symptoms and related laboratory findings.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course, the student will be expected to:
- Discuss the etiology of various diseases, syndromes, and conditions presented.
- State the clinical symptoms of the disease, syndromes, and conditions presented.
- State the names of laboratory tests most commonly employed as an aid in the diagnosis of these diseases, syndromes, and conditions presented, relating results of tests to the process involved.
- Demonstrate the ability to research and acquire information as it relates to clinical laboratory science.
- Analyze patient results, disease, condition, or syndrome using case history material presented.
- Select laboratory procedures and demonstrate skills necessary to teach the procedures to a classmate.
- Discuss and apply confidentiality and legal requirements to selected case scenarios.
- Review professionalism and expectations for laboratory personnel.
