Focuses on how e-commerce is conducted and managed, its major opportunities, limitations, issues and risks. E-commerce applications to be discussed include those of business-to-consumer (B2C), business to business (B2B), and intra business. Because e- commerce is interdisciplinary, subject matter will be directed at managers, professionals, and students who wish an overview of the e-commerce sector.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Discuss the forces that drive the widespread use of e-commerce.
- Discuss formulation of e-commerce strategy planning.
- Be aware of the major legal and ethical issues of e-commerce in the United States and measures for mitigating an organization’s legal risk.
- Define factors that determine business models of digital marketing.
- Describe essentials of consumer and business-to-business behavior.
- Describe how broker-based services are performed online.
- Describe various types of website promotion, including search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM).
- Identify types of electronic payment systems for e-commerce
- Describe the infrastructure necessary for e-commerce.
- Effectively and securely store customer, company and product data and manage the data warehousing aspects of e-commerce.
- Tract and evaluate the effectiveness of e-commerce strategy and tactics using data analytics tools.
