MTTC 103 - Milling Processes I PREREQUISITES/COREQUISITE: MTTC 101 - Introduction to Machining .

Instructs students in shop safety and industrial terminology and provides laboratory experience toward project completion on the vertical and/or horizontal milling machine. This course incorporates mandatory certification assessment for the National Institute of Metalworking Skills Manual Milling Certification.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate applications of machining speeds and feeds. (a)
- Interpret detail and assembly drawings of tooling and related components. (b)
- Demonstrate the correct use of basic hand tools, special accessories, and required testing equipment. (i)
- Perform routine preventative maintenance procedures. (a)
- Develop and utilize mathematical formulas to compute coordinates and solve milling machine related problems. (a)
- Identify and demonstrate correct setup and operation of tooling applications for milling machines. (a)
- Think critically and independently analyze, synthesize, and evaluate technical problems and information. (a)
- Solve problems and make decisions using formal process methods (Process Plans). (a)

GRADING POLICY Grading Rubric for NIMS Certification Exams:
The embedded NIMS exams will be graded based on the rubric below.
- Pass 100%
- Fail 75%
- No Take 0%
Each NIMS exam will be weighted as 10% of the final grade.
