Introduces CNC machining utilizing machines with more than 3 axis capability. This course teaches students to operate and set up these types of machines.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate ability to operate various machine controls to accomplish common operation and setup tasks on each machine. [a]
- Demonstrate ability to locate and set work and tool offsets appropriately for each type of machine. [a]
- Demonstrate ability to setup tools, change tools, and adjust offsets properly during operation of various machines. [a]
- Demonstrate ability to utilize common work holding accessories with each type of machine. [a]
- Demonstrate ability to apply proper operational preventative maintenance for each piece of equipment. [a]
- Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot basic types of machining problems. [e]
