MTTC 210 - Interactive CNC


PREREQUISITES: Demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or earning a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 0XX and MATH 0XX and MTTC 208 - CNC Mill Programming ;

OR

 Demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or earning a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 0XX and MATH 0XX and MTTC 209 - CNC Lathe Programming .

Introduces advanced applications of computer assisted part programming and simulation, language codes setup and operation, troubleshooting, and problem solving in a CNC turning center and CNC machining center. Includes related mathematical skills.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Demonstrate uses of interactive CNC systems. (i)
  2. Demonstrate applicable CAD/CAM post-processing systems. (i)
  3. Troubleshoot and edit existing programs using both down and up loading techniques. (i)
  4. Demonstrate the correct use of advanced tooling, special accessories and required CNC equipment. (i)
  5. Develop and utilize mathematical formulas to compute coordinates and solve CAD/CAM machining problems. (a)
  6. Identify and demonstrate I/O hookups with various machine controllers. (a)
  7. Think critically and independently analyze, synthesize, and evaluate technical problems and information. (b)
  8. Verbally describe and interpret data obtained from engineering drawings. (f)
