NANO 100 - Fundamentals of Nanotechnology PROGRAM: Nanotechnology CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 3 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Spring, 2019
This course provides an introduction to the field of nanotechnology. The course starts with a review of the history of nanotechnology and continues with a description of characterization techniques, top-down nanofabrication, bottom-up nanofabrication and the impact of nanotechnology on other areas of science and technology.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Understand nanotechnology terminology.
- Delineate the history of nanotechnology.
- Understand the uniqueness of the nano-scale.
- Describe the characterization techniques.
- Know nanofabrication processes.
- Be familiar with top-down nanofabrication.
- Be familiar with bottom-up nanofabrication.
- Understand the impact of nanotechnology on medicine and biology.
- Understand the impact of nanotechnology on microelectronics.
