PARM 102 - Emergency Medical Technician
PREREQUISITES:
- 18 years of age prior to course completion
- Prior to clinical rotations, students must complete:
- Completion of the College Health Examination Form and required immunizations and screening, regionally determined
- Background Check
- Drug Test
- Current Health Care Provider CPR card

The course is based on the training program developed by the Department of Transportation and the Emergency Medical Services Commission of Indiana. It covers theories, techniques and operational aspects of pre-hospital emergency care within the scope and responsibility of the emergency medical technician (EMT). It requires laboratory practice and clinical observation in a hospital emergency room and ambulance. Successful completion of the course meets national requirements to test for certification as an NREMT.

Ivy Tech Community College cannot guarantee that any student will pass a certification or licensing exam. Eligibility to sit for the certification or licensure exam will be determined by the region’s program chair based on successful completion of all program requirements, as well as the program’s medical director based on the student’s competency as required by the program’s accrediting body.
