Introduces the student to combined-cycle gas and steam turbine power plants. It includes information on system layout, controls, operation, and maintenance.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. List the major industrial applications of gas and steam turbine power plants.
  2. Describe the thermodynamic principles of combined-cycle plants.
  3. Identify the major components of combined-cycle plants.
  4. Describe the methods of controlling combined-cycle plants.
  5. Analyze the operating performance of combined-cycle plants.
  6. Describe the environmental issues associated with combined-cycle plants.
  7. Recognize typical layouts of existing combined-cycle plants.
