QUAL 206 - ISO/QS International Standards

Teaches the basic principles of ISO 9000 standards, QS 9000 standard, ISO 14000 standard. Includes instruction on internal auditing with emphasis on the role of the internal auditor in regard to the maintenance of the quality systems.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Explain each element of the ISO, QS standards, and TS 16949. [f]
  2. Identify obstacles to successful implementation. [e,f]
  3. Describe the role of third party registration. [f]
  4. Construct a Quality System Manual. [i]
  5. Develop communication skills both written and oral. [f]
  6. Identify the basic principles of auditing. [e]
  7. Plan an internal audit. [e]
  8. Conduct an internal audit. [e]
  9. Prepare a written report of an internal audit. [e,f]
  10. Comprehend the significance of corrective actions reports (CAR). [e,f]
  11. Justify the importance of follow up audits. [f,i]
  12. Determine the difference between fact and conjecture. [e,f]
  13. Understand and conduct a FMEA (failure mode and effect analysis) [f,i]
  14. Demonstrate ability to read and interpret technical documents. [b,e]
  15. Demonstrate ability to use various types of software applicable to course. [a]
