Provides introductory hands-on experience in core Linux administration tasks. Provides an overview of key administrative command line tools. Students will learn to manage file systems, hardware, and devices. Students will manage key configuration files with extensive text editing techniques. Examines management skills and techniques for file system access, log files, and permission structures. Students are required to demonstrate course objectives through the appropriate Linux certification exam preparation materials.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Identify, describe and distinguish essential tools for performing key Linux administration tasks by compiling, modifying, customizing and managing the Linux environment.
- Categorize and operate essential aspects of enterprise level Linux systems.
- Employ basic storage configuration and troubleshooting practices.
- Create, configure file system options for, implement, maintain, and secure a file system with appropriate administrative tools.
- Prepare and utilize virtualized systems.
- Manage local and enterprise level user and group permissions.
- Install, update, monitor and manage software packages, daemons, and services.
