This course builds on the concepts, definitions, and methodologies learned in the introductory course. Students will apply the user experience and user interface concepts/methodologies in real-world, project based scenarios. Provides an opportunity for students to produce portfolio quality work.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Apply the concepts of design thinking, human centered design and lean UX to a problem-based scenario.
  2. Conduct preliminary user research. Synthesize your research to a user experience application.
  3. Identify, explore and execute various types of basic user/usability testing.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the various methods used in this field.
  5. As part of a project based application, develop typical users/personas to define unique user experience.
  6. Utilize UX tools to develop wireframes and workflow.
  7. Utilize various prototyping methods, including paper, low and high-fidelity methods.
  8. Prepare/develop your solutions based on a provided design brief.
  9. Apply interaction design principles to a user interface problem-based scenario.
  10. Identify and apply design systems and patterns.
  11. Consider branding in your interface solutions.
  12. Produce portfolio quality work.
  13. Evaluate your peers and professional work critically.
