Provides advanced students with opportunities to design projects for specified areas of interest and skill development. Requires the project plan to be approved by the instructor. Restricts work to student program emphasis. Requires performance and completed work to be portfolio quality.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Expand existing skills in a focused area of interest.
  2. Investigate and obtain experience in various facets of the visual communications industry not covered or briefly covered in previous classes.
  3. Research and implement advanced visual communication pursuits beyond the general course of study.
  4. Prepare and deliver jury presentations of independent studies and projects.


COURSE CONTENT: Topical areas of study include -  

  • Topical areas of study vary depending on the personal pursuits of individual students. Content should include comprehensive discussion of design/project issues relevant to the project at hand.
