ESOL 006 - Pre-Academic English for Speakers of Other Languages PREREQUISITES: Demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or successful completion of the previous level course with a “C” or better and ESOL Advisor Approval. Emphasizes intermediate to academic writing, reading, listening and speaking with increasing competence in academic and social situations.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:
- Organize and write a basic paragraph.
- Read and demonstrate understanding of social/academic expository material and extract important information.
- Demonstrate understanding of conversations and lectures on general and academic subjects.
- Participate effectively in diverse social and academic conversations with correct grammar usage.
- Demonstrate basic grammar usage skills, punctuation, and spelling in all writing.

- Clauses and phrases
- Complex sentence structure
- Complex parts of speech
- Simple and progressive verb tenses
