ESOL 006 - Pre-Academic English for Speakers of Other Languages


PREREQUISITES: Demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or successful completion of the previous level course with a “C” or better and ESOL Advisor Approval.

Emphasizes intermediate to academic writing, reading, listening and speaking with increasing competence in academic and social situations.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:

  1. Organize and write a basic paragraph.
  2. Read and demonstrate understanding of social/academic expository material and extract important information.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of conversations and lectures on general and academic subjects.
  4. Participate effectively in diverse social and academic conversations with correct grammar usage.
  5. Demonstrate basic grammar usage skills, punctuation, and spelling in all writing.
