PREREQUISITES:   ARTS 100 Life and Object Drawing I, ARTS 102 Color and Design Theory I, ARTS 103 Three Dimensional Design

Course Description: Introduction to the technology, language, and approaches to digital media. An exploration of digital imaging through skill-building exercises in two-dimensional software and hardware, and conceptual development. Introduces students to the use of computer drawing tablets as tools to create digital artwork. Through learning digital drawing and painting techniques, students will produce artwork with applications to illustration and concept art.  

 

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Major Course Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to: 

  1. Use the elements and principles of design in a decisive fashion 
  1. Use color to communicate ideas to others 
  1. Build a design gradually using thumbnail sketches and mockups 
  1. Apply traditional drawing concepts and techniques digitally 
  1. Use digital brushes to draw artistic imagery and create painterly images 
  1. Evaluate designs for audience, meaning, and effectiveness 
  1. Apply creative and visual problem-solving skills 
  1. Explore historical and contemporary relationships and content regarding digital art
