NSGA 145 - Foundations of Nrsg Lab & Clin

Engages in therapeutic communication, patient assessment, and data collection skills to develop clinical judgment in the care of diverse patient populations.  Participates in the nursing skills needed to perform safe patient care across the lifespan.  Examines the role of the registered nurse within the intra- and interdisciplinary team with a goal of achieving optimal patient outcomes. 

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  

  1. Demonstrate the importance of ensuring safe patient care environments in a variety of health care settings across the lifespan. (SLO 1)
  2. Perform comprehensive patient assessment skills to guide clinical judgment, using evidence-based practice to promote optimal patient outcomes. (SLO 2)
  3. Demonstrate therapeutic communication and collaboration with intra- and interdisciplinary teams in the delivery of patient care to diverse populations across the lifespan. (SLO 4)
  4. Recognize the various health factors and interventions that impact physiological well-being and promote safe patient outcomes. (SLO 1 & SLO 2)
  5. Utilize technology and informatics to manage and develop the plan of care. (SLO 5)
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles utilized in management of patient care including prioritization, delegation, and resource utilization. (SLO 2 & SLO 3)
