Provides an understanding of, including but not limited to, immune and metabolic health concepts as it relates to patients across the lifespan. Examines the role of the registered nurse in applying clinical judgment, management of safe and effective care, and implementing the ordered plan of treatment as it relates to patients experiencing alterations in immune and metabolic health and wellness.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Describe the etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations of patients with alterations in immune and metabolic health and wellness. (SLO 1)
  2. Understands principles of clinical judgment for patients experiencing alterations in health within the context of identified concepts. (SLO 2)
  3. Describes strategies for assessing and providing evidence-based nursing care to patients with alterations in health within the context of identified concepts. (SLO 1, 3)
  4. Identifies the various roles of the registered nurse in collaboration with intra- and interdisciplinary teams as it relates to patients with alterations in select health concepts. (SLO 4, 5) 
  5. Implements patient teaching strategies for treatment and care in select health concepts. (SLO 4)
  6. Understands principles of pharmacological treatments for patients experiencing alterations in immune and metabolic health and wellness. (SLO 1, 5)
