CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 Utilizes concepts of nursing to build an understanding of the complete spectrum of physical, psychosocial and community health and wellness. Examines the roles and responsibilities of the registered nurse utilizing clinical judgment as a framework for problem solving and how the registered nurse employs patient-centered care, inclusivity, and diversity. Provides an overview of the safety and ethical principles utilized in the provision of care for patients with physical, psychosocial and community health needs.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Develop effective therapeutic nurse-patient relationships to meet physical and psychosocial needs of the patient and community. (SLO 1, 6)
- Examine the role of the registered nurse to achieve holistic, patient-centered care for patients with alterations in physical and psychosocial wellbeing. (SLO 1, 2, 4, 6)
- Discuss concepts of diversity by identifying care that is respectful of culture, ethnicity, and patient values. (SLO 1, 2, 6)
- Identify evidence-based practice in the care of individuals experiencing alterations in physical and psychosocial wellness. (SLO 2, 3, 5)
- Demonstrate the concept of community and patient-centered education for populations experiencing alterations in physical and psychosocial wellness. (SLO 2, 4)
- Explain the use and application of technology as a means of enhancing care of patients with alterations in physical and psychosocial wellness. (SLO 1, 5)
