CREDIT HOURS MIN: 1.5 CLINICAL - NURSING HOURS MIN: 4.5 Understands the health care needs of patients with physical, psychosocial and community needs. Applies conceptual knowledge to provide safe, quality, compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care for individuals experiencing alterations in physical and psychosocial health. Demonstrates the role of the registered nurse by applying clinical judgment as the framework for critical thinking in the application of nursing care related to physical, psychosocial and community needs.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Employ therapeutic nurse patient interactions related to the patient’s cognition and developmental stage. (SLO 1, 4 )
- Function as a member of the intra- and interdisciplinary healthcare team providing quality, individualized, holistic patient centered care. (SLO 1, 2, 4 )
- Exemplify care for patients with alterations in psychosocial and physical health that models respect of diversity culture, ethnicity, inclusivity, and patient values. (SLO 1, 2, 5, 6 )
- Apply clinical judgment when determining care of individuals experiencing alterations in psychosocial and physical wellbeing in health and community care settings. (SLO 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
- Demonstrate professional therapeutic communication related to interaction with patients, their identified support persons, and members of the intra- and interdisciplinary team in health and community care settings. (SLO 1, 2, 5)
- Integrates the use of technology in the healthcare and community settings to promote health and wellness. (SLO 5 )
- Demonstrate the ability to provide therapeutic patient specific education that promotes health and wellness for individuals experiencing alterations in psychosocial and physical wellness. (SLO 1, 4, 5)
