Examines the role of the registered nurse in applying clinical judgment in family health and community settings. Applies an understanding of the holistic and culturally sensitive health care needs of families. Studies the diverse composition and health concepts of families across the lifespan. 

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Analyze the role of the registered nurse in applying clinical judgment to the care of reproductive, family, and community health patients (SLO 2, 6)
  2. Determine effective communication and collaboration between all members of the intra- and interdisciplinary team including the patient and the patient’s support system in promoting quality care of reproductive, family, and community health patients. (SLO 4)
  3. Apply clinical judgment to ensure optimal patient outcomes for reproductive, family, and community health patients. (SLO 1, 2)
  4. Interpret changes in patient status using safe and effective evidence-based practices in diverse and inclusive patient populations. (SLO 1, 2, 3)
  5. Apply principles of pharmacological treatments in care of reproductive, family, and community health patients. (SLO 1, 5)
  6. Apply principles of nutritional concepts of patients across the life span in diverse and inclusive populations. (SLO 1)
