PREREQUISITES/COREQUISITE: NSGA 217 Advanced Health Concepts Clinical
CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 Builds upon previously introduced health concepts through the application of clinical judgment in increasingly complex health care situations. Examines the role of the registered nurse in implementing clinical judgment while maintaining diversity, equity and inclusion in care practices. Applies concepts of leadership, intra- and interdisciplinary collaboration, and communication while providing patient centered care.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Interpret changes in patient status using safe and effective evidence-based practices in diverse and inclusive patient populations. (SLO 1, 2, 3)
- Analyze the role of the registered nurse in applying clinical judgment to the care of patients experiencing complex alterations in health. (SLO 2, 6)
- Apply clinical judgment to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a variety of care settings. (SLO 1,2 )
- Discuss the role of the registered nurse in quality and performance improvement initiatives to foster positive patient care outcomes. (SLO 3)
- Determine effective communication and collaboration between all members of the intra- and interdisciplinary team including the patient and the patient’s support system in promoting quality care. (SLO 4)
- Discuss information technology resources to enhance patient care. (SLO 5)
- Evaluate leadership, legal, ethical, and professional principles to guide practice as a registered nurse. (SLO 6)
