Builds upon previously introduced health concepts through the application of clinical judgment in increasingly complex health care situations in clinical and simulation settings. Implements clinical judgment while maintaining diversity, equity and inclusion in care practices. Applies concepts of leadership, intra- and interdisciplinary collaboration, and communication while providing patient centered care.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Interpret changes in patient status using safe and effective evidence-based practices in diverse and inclusive patient populations. (SLO 1)
  2. Demonstrate clinical judgment to ensure optimal patient  outcomes in a variety of care settings with patients experiencing complex alterations in health. (SLO 2 )
  3. Evaluate methods of quality and performance improvement initiatives, and resource stewardship to improve patient care outcomes. (SLO 3)
  4. Implement effective communication and collaboration between members of the intra- and interdisciplinary team including the patient and the patient’s support system to deliver quality care. (SLO 4 )
  5. Apply information technology resources to enhance patient care. (SLO 5)
  6. Demonstrate leadership, legal, ethical, and professional principles to guide practice as a registered nurse. (SLO 6) 
  7. Implement principles of pharmacological treatments for patients experiencing increasingly complex health care situations.  (SLO 1, 2)
