CREDIT HOURS MIN: 5 Focuses on promoting, restoring and maintaining health and independence of the patient across the lifespan, including patients experiencing alterations in psychosocial well-being. Examines the role of the licensed practical nurse in applying clinical judgment and coordination of care.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Describe the etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations of patients with alterations in physical and psychosocial health. (SLO 1)
- Demonstrate knowledge of concepts in leadership, clinical judgment, and professionalism within the scope of practice of the licensed practical nurse. (SLO 2, 6)
- Utilize evidence based practice and technology to provide safe, quality care. ( SLO 1 ,2, 5)
- Demonstrate an understanding of therapeutic communication while collaborating with intra- and interdisciplinary teams to promote improved patient care outcomes.(SLO 3, 4, 6)
