Focuses on promoting, restoring and maintaining health and independence of the patient across the lifespan, including patients experiencing alterations in psychosocial well-being. Examines the role of the licensed practical nurse in applying clinical judgment and coordination of care.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  1. Describe the etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations of patients with alterations in physical and psychosocial health. (SLO 1)
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of concepts in leadership, clinical judgment, and professionalism within the scope of practice of the licensed practical nurse. (SLO 2, 6)
  3. Utilize evidence based practice and technology to provide safe, quality care. ( SLO 1 ,2, 5)
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of therapeutic communication while collaborating with intra- and interdisciplinary teams to promote improved patient care outcomes.(SLO 3, 4, 6)
  5. Identify diverse needs of patients across the lifespan experiencing physical and psychosocial changes in health. (SLO 1, 2)
  6. Understands principles of pharmacological treatments for patients experiencing alterations in physical and psychosocial health. (SLO 1, 5)
