Promotes clinical judgment in caring for patients experiencing complex health problems. Examines the role and scope of practice for the licensed practical nurse when caring for patients experiencing complex health problems. Assesses the needs of diverse populations in a variety of health care settings. Summarizes leadership and communication behaviors in interactions with the intra- and interdisciplinary teams, patients and families. 

 

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Describe the etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations of patients with complex health problems. (SLO 1)
  2. Explore leadership behaviors within the role and scope of practice for the licensed practical nurse. (SLO 4, 6)
  3. Formulate clinical judgment that promotes safe, patient centered care resulting in optimal outcomes. (SLO 1, 2, 3)
