Prepares the nursing student to transition to the licensed practical nurse. Reflects on the roles and responsibilities of the licensed practical nurse. Integrates concepts of clinical judgment, professionalism, and self-care management. Engages students in preparation for NCLEX success and licensure.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Discuss the role of the licensed practical nurse as an advocate for the delivery of equitable healthcare.  (SLO 1, 3, 4, 5, 6)
  2. Demonstrate understanding of ethical and legal standards of practice within the scope of the licensed practice nurse. (SLO 6)
  3. Incorporate concepts of clinical judgment, professionalism, and self-care management to provide patient centered care. (SLO 1, 2)
