WHY CHOOSE THIS PROGRAM?

By earning an Associate of Science in Education at Ivy Tech you can transfer to a four-year college or university, full time, without losing credits. At Ivy Tech, you’ll save money on tuition while receiving an excellent foundation before successfully transferring into a bachelor’s degree program.

About the Education Program

The education program helps future teachers prepare for a career on day one. In the first education course, students go into school settings for authentic field experience and observation time. From creating lesson plans to working on community engagement projects, students participate in a variety of real teaching experiences and scenarios.

The education program offers a diverse range of classes such as a cultural education class demonstrating how race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status can impact a child’s performance in the classroom. Students also take a course on exceptional children, allowing students to work in a dynamic array of classroom and school settings from elementary school to high school.

Our Graduates

Graduates of our Associate of Science (AS) degree program can seamlessly transfer to a four-year institution through our Transfer as a Junior program. To learn more about our Transfer as a Junior program, and how it can save you money, visit our TSAP page. Please keep in mind, you will also need to be admitted to the four-year institution where you plan to transfer. Admission is not guaranteed just by enrolling in a Transfer as a Junior program.

Transfer Partners

If you would like to continue your education after completing your Ivy Tech degree, we have several four-year transfer partnerships in place. Talk to your transfer advocate for more information about transfer opportunities!

Completion Guides

Completion guides provide the recommended path to graduation, broken out by 8-week term. Courses are also numbered to show an overall number for students taking fewer classes at a time. Please consult with your advisor to determine which classes are the best option for you to take.
