About the Program

The Associate of Fine Arts is a transfer program that provides you with an opportunity to complete the first two years of study leading to a bachelor’s degree in visual arts at colleges, universities and art schools. Students enrolled in the program take the foundation level courses that are comparable to most undergraduate fine art programs.

Professors will help students discover their artistic voice and will continually expose students to artists, art organizations, exhibitions, and volunteer opportunities, and classes focus on helping students learn the fundamentals of their chosen field and build a professional portfolio. Faculty encourages students to participate in local community art festivals, exhibits, and other opportunities to showcase their art.

Our Graduates

Our graduates have transferred to some of the best schools in the country, had art featured in magazines and won awards!  Graduates will have mastered the fundamentals necessary to begin working in their field or transfer to the four year university of their choice. Accreditation

Accreditation and Transfer Information

The Indianapolis Fine Arts program is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD). NASAD is an organization of schools, colleges, and universities that offer art and design studies. Founded in 1944, it has approximately 315 institutional members. Accreditation with NASAD affords excellent transfer opportunities to 4-year universities locally and across the country.

For students wishing to continue education at a 4-year university, a portfolio of all work is typically required by the accepting school. A formal transfer agreement exists between Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI.
