About the Program
Respiratory Therapists are health care specialists who provide care for patients with breathing disorders. Care includes assessment, evaluation, and treatment of patients ranging in age from premature infants to the elderly. Therapists also work with adults who have chronic lung problems, such as asthma or emphysema. As a respiratory therapist, you must possess good communication skills. You will work side by side with physicians, nurses and other health care providers in caring for patients with lung disorders.
We offer the ability to use the same equipment in the laboratory that they will use in the hospital upon graduation. It is a challenging program, but by the end of it students will be ready for their board exams as well as employment. Respiratory Therapy is a career in demand. It is an exciting program that teaches you the skills needed to become experts with managing and treating lung disorders.
The Respiratory Therapy program is a selective admission program. When you apply to the College, you will be accepted into Healthcare Specialist with a concentration in Respiratory Therapy while you complete the prerequisite requirements. The Respiratory Therapy program accepts a limited number of students each year and there is a separate application process. Contact your campus of interest below for more details.
Students who are admitted to the program will be required to pay for and submit to a criminal background check, drug testing and physical exam. The details and process will be provided at an orientation. Please contact the program faculty for more detailed information.
Our Graduates
Upon graduation, students must complete the national board exam. Once those are completed they can enter to work force at several local hospitals, home care companies, pulmonary functions, and rehab centers.
