- Demonstrate competence in essential Dental Assisting skills.
- Demonstrate competence in chairside Dental Assisting functions.
- Demonstrate competence in advanced/expanded Dental Assisting functions.
- Demonstrate competence in Dental Practice Management.
- Obtain basic understanding of body structure and function, disease concepts and dietary considerations of the dental patient within the context of biomedical sciences.
- Obtain understanding of materials used in intra-oral and laboratory procedures, including experiences in their manipulations, an understanding of the development, form and function of the structures of the oral cavity and of oral diseases, pharmacology as they relate to dental assisting procedures and scientific principles of dental radiography.
- Secure in-depth level of understanding in oral anatomy including oral histology and oral embryology.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the properties and competence in the uses and manipulation of dental materials.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills to produce diagnostic dental image surveys on manikins.
- Demonstrate competence in exposing diagnostically acceptable full-mouth dental image surveys on a minimum of two patients in the program or contracted facility.
- Obtain in-depth knowledge in didactic content for general dentistry, dental specialties, chairside assisting, dental-related environmental hazards, preventive dentistry, management of dental and medical emergencies.
- Demonstrate competency in crafting, organizing, and expressing ideas clearly through the written language and understanding of use of critical thinking and reading in the writing process.
- Demonstrate competency in appropriate organization to deliver oral messages using logical reasoning, credible and relevant evidence and to adapt messages for diverse audiences, contexts, and communication channels.
- Demonstrate competency in the interpretation and representation of mathematical forms and skills to carry out mathematical procedures to solve problems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical patterns, or historical contexts within a given social or behavioral domain.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the comprehensive relationship between anatomy and physiology in the human organism, including but not limited to, the structure and function of the human organ systems, medical terminology and the structural hierarchy and levels of organization of the human body.
