  • Students will critically analyze and articulate the multidisciplinary perspectives of public safety and/or environmental health and safety.
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to work with various inter- and multi-disciplinary organizations needed to better prevent and mitigate the impact of various actions/events upon a community, region, or state.
  • Students will become proficient in identifying and utilizing information and psychomotor skills in critical incidents and issues within public safety and/or environmental health and safety.
  • Apply effective interpersonal communication, critical thinking and decision-making skills commensurate with their defined level of responsibility within the workplace.
  • Demonstrate a solid foundation of knowledge and psychomotor skills within their assigned role in public safety and/or environmental health and safety.
  • Demonstrate safe practices and procedures by utilizing minimum standards of safety procedures compliant with modern industry standards.
  • The student will apply knowledge and skills that prepare them for future leadership positions within public safety and or environmental health and safety.
  • The student will examine the historical and evolving concept of homeland security within the broader political and national security system of the contemporary nation-state.

  • The student will learn risk management and mitigation principles and apply those principles in their role in the Homeland Security discipline.
  • Identify different theoretical frameworks to explain the function of various components of the Homeland Security and Public Safety system.
