The Transfer General Education Core - TGEC - Certificate requirements for this degree require a minimum of 30 credits. The TGEC Certificate requires a minimum of one course from six areas of study. The number of TGEC elective courses shown above may vary based on required TGEC course credits earned, area of study, and the student’s Individual Academic Plan. The remaining degree requirements provide a mechanism for students to obtain the required minimum 60 credits to graduate with the appropriate Associate level transfer degree.

DEGREE OUTCOMES


  • Construct arguments using proper legal terminology.
  • Differentiate between the Indiana Trial Rules and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Analyze a legal problem by researching both primary and secondary legal authorities, evaluating the binding versus nonbinding nature of the authorities found, and applying this distinction to construct a written legal argument that includes proper citations.
  • Draft a variety of pleadings, motions, and other legal documents by analyzing a given set of facts to determine jurisdictional requirements and to prioritize methods of discovery.
  • Interpret the responsibility of various legal professionals with respect to the rules of professional conduct and the role that the Indiana Supreme Court plays in the regulation of lawyers and paralegals.
  • Compose legal documents using the rules of English grammar and style, including, but not limited to word usage, identify common errors, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, rules of composition, formal writing style, and sentence structure.
