Demonstrate competence in dental assisting functions, including essential and chairside skills, as well as the use and manipulation of dental materials, to support safe and effective patient care -
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of didactic content related to general dentistry, dental specialties, chairside assisting, dental-related environmental hazards, preventive dentistry, the management of dental and medical emergencies, and oral anatomy and oral disease. -
Apply a comprehensive understanding of oral anatomy, oral disease, pharmacology, radiography, and biomedical sciences-including body systems, disease processes, and nutrition-as they relate to dental assisting procedures and patient care, and knowledge of materials and techniques used in intra-oral and laboratory procedures to support safe and effective dental assisting care. -
Integrate effective oral communication by organizing messages logically, using credible and relevant evidence, and adapting delivery to diverse audiences, contexts, and communication channels, including those related to patient interaction and dental practice management. -
Execute knowledge and competence in producing diagnostic dental image surveys on manikins and in exposing diagnostically acceptable full-mouth surveys on a minimum of two patients within the program or a contracted facility. |
