VIDT 111 - Studio and Field Production I PREREQUISITES: VISC 105 - Video and Sound PROGRAM: Visual Communications CREDIT HOURS: 3 LECTURE HOURS: 1 LAB HOURS: 2 STUDIO: 3 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Fall 2020
This course provides hands on training spanning the entire production process for studio and field production. Students work independently and within a team to produce, direct, shoot, light, edit televise-ready shows and videos. Produces samples for student portfolios/video reel.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate, through application, the operation of typical audio and video production equipment.
- Demonstrate, through application, the proper digital studio camera operation including shot framing, camera controls (focus/zoom), and camera movements (dolly, truck, ped, etc.).
- Employ three-point lighting in studio and field applications.
- Work various job titles on a studio production team taking direction during a live or simulated performance or show.
- Employ character generator processes for text/graphic creation and tracking.
- Operate a manual Electronic News Gathering (ENG) or other video camera for field acquisition.
- Produce, shoot and edit a field package(s) using Non-Linear Editing (NLE) software.
