VIDT 202 - Studio and Field Production II PREREQUISITES: VIDT 111 - Studio and Field Production I PROGRAM: Visual Communications CREDIT HOURS: 3 LECTURE HOURS: 1 LAB HOURS: 2 STUDIO: 3 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Fall 2020
Second in a series, this course hones the knowledge and skills necessary to produce and execute good video and audio productions. Students work independently and within a team in a studio and field environment. Students will produce samples for student portfolios/video reel.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Perform various roles on a production team.
- Demonstrate videography techniques including camera controls, three-point lighting and audio basics in all aspects of field and studio shooting.
- Apply pre-production processes to studio and field productions.
- Editing more complex projects and packages.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform in various roles within a team-based environment associated with studio (control room) and field settings.
COURSE CONTENT: Topical areas of study include -
- Production rolls-floor directing
- Audio and studio preparation
- Control room responsibilities-Create/operate lower third & full screen graphics in character generator, load video server, keep time in a live or taped program, screen audience input & assist producer in filtering audience interaction, Introduction to audio board and concepts
- Responsibilities of the grip position.
- Post production feedback sessions (allowing students to share responsibilities and what went well/can be improved for the next production)
