HVAC 298 - Advanced Service Projects PREREQUISITES: HVAC 271 - HVAC Service Projects . PROGRAM: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 2 LAB HOURS MIN: 2 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Spring, 2019
This course will focus on the continuation of the applied service that was introduced in the HVAC 271 course. We will focus on a project that will be student driven and organized. The acquisition of, and the completion of the project will be picked by the students. The instructor will act as a facilitator and advisor for this group.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:
- Work safely with your team members and other tradesmen.
- Perform duties in a professional manner.
- Work in teams to accomplish tasks as assigned.
- Estimate project costs and time in man-hours.
- With help from the instructor, be able to acquire material and tools.
- Using critical and creative thought processes, execute projects working with nonprofits and others.
COURSE CONTENT: Topical areas of study include -
- In this course, it being an elective in the HVAC Technology Curriculum, allows for much latitude. We will be taking on a couple of projects that are directly related to the HVAC trades. This class will be working around other tradesmen in our large projects. For this course a functional week to week syllabus would be moot at best. We will incorporate into the class the principles of Service Learning and Civic Responsibility.
