This course covers the first half of NCCER Electrical Level 2. Its modules cover topics such as alternating current, motors: theory and application, electric lighting, conduit bending, and pull and junction boxes. The NCCER Electrical Level 2 certificate and wallet card will not be awarded until the student successfully completes both this course and BCTI 132 .
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon the successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Describe forces that are characteristic of alternating-current systems and the application of Ohm’s law to AC circuits.
- Examine AC and DC motors, including the main components, circuits, and connections.
- List principles of human vision and the characteristics of light. Discuss the handling and installation of various types of lamps and lighting fixtures.
- Discuss bends in conduit up to 6 inches. Examine mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical benders.
- Explain how to select and size pull boxes, junction boxes, and handholes.
- Attain readiness to take the first half of NCCER Electrical Level 2 certifications exams.
