This course provides an opportunity for the dental hygiene student to apply principles learned in DHYG 201 - Community and Public Health Dentistry , and the present dental health information to various community groups and organizations. Project implementation and evaluation are included.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Provide dental health education using principles learned in DHYG 201 - Community and Public Health Dentistry .
- Provide dental career presentations using principles learned in DHYG 201 - Community and Public Health Dentistry .
- Assess, plans, implement and evaluate a dental health program for a given community using public health principles, ethical decision making and evidence-based dental hygiene
COURSE CONTENT: Topical areas of study include -
- Development of lesson plans for various groups
- Implementation of program planning and evaluation
- Community presentations
