HIMT 202 - Healthcare Data Literacy and Statistics


PREREQUISITES: HIMT 101 - Introduction to Health Information Technology , HIMT 102 - Health Data Content and Structure , and MATH 123 - Quantitative Reasoning  or higher

Compilation and usage of various types of administrative and healthcare statistics including vital records. Includes an overview of the health information research process and the use of computers for data management.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:

  1. Calculate statistics for healthcare operations.
  2. Report health care data through graphical representations.
  3. Describe research methodologies used in healthcare.
  4. Manage data within a database system.
  5. Identify human resource strategies for organizational best practices.
