HUMA 262 - Acting


PREREQUISITES: Demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or earning a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 093 - Introduction to College Writing  and ENGL 083 - Reading Strategies for College  or ENGL 095 - Integrated Reading and Writing

This course will introduce the creation of fundamentals of insights into the craft of acting and provide an introduction to basic behavioral and imaginative skills. It will also provide development of a practical method for creating simple belief and playing an action and provide a rehearsal approach of developing a monologue.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Demonstrate behavioral and imaginative skills of acting by applying performance principles.
  2. Describe the creation of fundamental insights in the craft of acting,
  3. Demonstrate a practical method for creating simple belief and playing an action,
  4. Demonstrate a rehearsal approach to developing a monologue.
  5. Apply performance concepts and techniques in critiquing live theatrical performances in a constructive manner.
  6. Collaborate with fellow students on partnered Scene Work for performance of a short Open Scene and a longer Partnered Scene.
