This course provides instruction in the clinical aspects of the ambulatory healthcare setting. Includes vital signs, asepsis, sterilization, and treatment room procedures.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- List principles and steps of professional /provider CPR (IC13)
- Measure and record: (IP1)
- Blood pressure
- Temperature
- Pulse
- Respirations
- Height
- Weight
- Pulse oximetry
- Produce up-to-date documentation of provider/professional level CPR (IP12)
- Incorporate critical thinking skills when performing patient assessment (IA1)
- Define the following as practiced within an ambulatory care setting: (IIIC3)
- medical asepsis
- surgical asepsis
- Identify methods of controlling the growth of microorganisms (IIIC4)
- Prepare items for autoclaving (IIIP4)
- Perform sterilization procedures (IIIP5)
- Prepare a sterile field (IIIP6)
- Perform within a sterile field (IIIP7)
- Define coaching a patient as it relates to: (VC6)
- Health maintenance

- Compliance with treatment plan
