MEAS 240 - Advanced Clinical Procedures

Advances the knowledge and skills enabling the student to assist in clinical management in the medical and surgical specialties. Addresses health services in the community which are directed toward prevention of disease and maintenance and restoration of health.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Identify various medical specialties.
  2. Describe physical examination for various specialty physicians.
  3. Describe patient education needs for various specialties.
  4. Assist patients in obtaining services from local community health resources.
  5. Practice patient diagnostic testing for specialties.
  6. Maintain and increase knowledge of clinical skills.
  7. Implement interoffice triage.
  8. Develop various patient information tools.
