This course studies theory and operation, diagnosis, testing and repair of motorcycle transmissions and drivelines.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate proper shop safety practices while overhauling and repairing engines.
- Identify tools and equipment used in transmission/driveline repair.
- Inspect and determine serviceability of transmissions/drivelines according to manufacturer specifications.
- Demonstrate knowledge of transmission powerflow.
- Inspect synchronizer assemblies for wear and damage.
- Inspect gear assemblies for wear and damage.
- Disassemble a motorcycle transmission for service.
- R & R transmission and driveline components.
- Diagnose and or repair the shaft and/or differential assembly.
