This course is an in-depth, hands-on exposure to materials fabrication approaches used in nanofabrication. Students learn that these processes can be guided by chemical or physical means or by some combination of these. Hands-on exposure will include self-assembly, colloidal chemistry, solar cell fabrication, template guided electrodeposition.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Have strong knowledge of nanoparticles, their synthesis and application.
- Know how nanomaterials can be used for biological applications.
- Demonstrate knowledge of quantum dots, nanowires and other building blocks of bottom-up nanofabrication.
- Be familiar with application of PDMS in nanotechnology.
