TMAS 223 - Therapeutic Massage Clinical II

1. Develop a safe and effective initial session and on-going treatment plan, based on client goals, assessment findings, and understanding of effects of massage and bodywork (E 1.7 I)
2. Write clear, concise and accurate notes of client treatment sessions (E 1.7 II)
3. Communicate the plan and rationale for a treatment session to the client (E 2.1 I)
4. Obtain informed consent from the client prior to beginning a treatment session (E 2.1 II)
5. Modify the plan and therapeutic approach used during a treatment session based on client response (E 2.1 III)
6. Manage time within a treatment session (E 2.1 IV)
7. Demonstrate techniques that are within the scope of training and practice of commonly recognized massage therapy or bodywork disciplines (E 2.2 I)
8. Vary the choice of application of techniques as appropriate to the client’s needs, including those of special populations (E 2.2 III)
9. Demonstrate techniques that are appropriate for each body area, including endangerment sites (E 2.2 IV)
10. Identify and demonstrate biomechanical skills necessary for the safe and effective performance of massage and bodywork techniques (E 3.2 III)
11. Discuss and demonstrate the use of draping during treatment as a professional boundary (E 4.2 VII)
12. Complete a minimum of 45 hours of massage sessions throughout the semester that focus on further development of advanced hands-on skills and applications learned in the classroom.
13. Apply advanced techniques and applications, such as hydrotherapies, or trigger point therapy, in development of clients’ individualized treatment plans.
14. Present advanced treatment plans, detailing specific proposals for accommodations based on individual client needs, goals and assessments.
15. Demonstrate professional clinical interaction and communication skills with clients throughout massage session, including intake, massage session adjustments and post-session instructions.
16. Maintain complete and thorough documentation of client files
17. Maintain the highest level of professionalism, ethical behavior and confidentiality through all contact and involvement with the clinic.
