The study of histological and embryonic development of the head, face, and hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity to include developmental abnormalities.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Describe the microscopic anatomy of all primary tissues.
- Describe the structure and function of the cells, tissues and organs of the oral cavity.
- Describe the development of the face, palate, tongue and teeth.
- Describe the microscopic anatomy of the enamel, dentin, pulp, cementum, gingival and periodontal tissues.
