The study of histological and embryonic development of the head, face, and hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity to include developmental abnormalities.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

Describe the microscopic anatomy of all primary tissues.
Describe the structure and function of the cells, tissues and organs of the oral cavity.
Describe the development of the face, palate, tongue and teeth.
Describe the microscopic anatomy of the enamel, dentin, pulp, cementum, gingival and periodontal tissues.
