An in-depth study of various influences on office functions providing a background for organization and management of a physician’s office. Includes government and professional sources for consultation.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Exercise efficient time management.
  2. Describe methods used to manage personnel including hiring, firing, orientation, evaluations, and work schedules.
  3. Maintain employee/employer benefits records.
  4. Evaluate office procedures.
  5. Develop an office policy manual.
  6. Develop patient information tools regarding office policy.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of legal responsibilities in a medical office.
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of management styles.
  9. Describe means to monitor legislation applicable to the profession.
