Continues the study of Spanish for students who have had the equivalent of one semester of college-level Spanish. Introduces additional grammatical structures and vocabulary to further develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills as well as an appreciation of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Master basic Spanish vocabulary and grammar.
- Speak in Spanish about a variety of everyday topics, such as the holidays and the family, the home and household chores, the activities of a daily routine, college and academic subjects, professions and the workplace, and ordering food and drink in a restaurant.
- Speak about familiar topics using the present and the past tenses in both formal and informal situations with enough accuracy to be understood by a native speaker.
- Paraphrase material in Spanish.
- Describe and express ideas in writing with coherence.
- Read and discuss Spanish articles and texts with understanding.
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the Spanish language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
