A geographical analysis of the major physical, cultural, political and economic divisions of the world along with their characteristics, locations, human activities, and inter-relationships.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the major physical and cultural geographical features of the world’s different regions.
- Describe the nature of world regional structure.
- Summarize the nature of world cultural, political, and economic divisions.
- Compare and contrast the expression of human landscapes.
- Analyze the historical development of world regions with consideration of major world events and the influence of geography on those events.
- Differentiate, name and map the major world geographic realms.
- Read and interpret maps and understand map properties.
- Master the special vocabulary of geography.
- Compare and contrast world environmental conditions.
- Compare and contrast the effects of human activity on world regions.
