Offers students the opportunity to complete selected projects while working in a team environment with students of other disciplines. Simulates situations found in industry.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Exhibit an understanding of working methods in the visual communications field.
  2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of creating and working from comps and semi comps.
  3. Exhibit a working knowledge of art direction.
  4. Create professional work, similar to that found in industry with other individuals in a team working environment.
  5. Exhibit a working knowledge of other disciplines within the communications field.
  6. Complete portfolio projects that meet stringent deadlines.
  7. Exhibit complementary skills in a group environment.
  8. Exhibit the ability to “sell” ideas to other team members.
  9. Exhibit knowledge of how each component of the workflow fits into the other to complete the assignment.
  10. Perform tasks in other disciplines that are not in one’s major field.

Advertising and commercial assignments which include group participation and skills

Rough layouts, semi comps, and comprehensives

Industry workflows and methods

Working in team environments

Finding ways to contribute to a team environment

Working with advanced assignment work in graphic design, photography, and interactive design.
